This covers every DEADWORK app, including Loadout. The short version: your footage and production data are yours. We don't sell it, we don't train on it without asking, and we don't hold it hostage behind a subscription.
What Loadout collects, and why
Photos of your gear. When you add an item, Loadout takes a photo so it can recognize that item later through the camera. That recognition happens entirely on your phone, using Apple's on-device Vision framework — your gear photos are never sent to DEADWORK or any third party for processing.
Your iCloud account. Your gear list, kits, and scan history sync through your own private iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit), so your data follows you to a new phone or stays backed up. DEADWORK has no server of our own storing this — it lives in your iCloud, under your control.
Location (optional). If you turn on the "Remind Me When I Leave" feature, Loadout checks your location in the background to notice when you leave a shoot location, so it can prompt you to scan your kit. This only ever notices arrivals and departures — it never tracks your route, and your location data never leaves your phone. You can turn this off at any time in Settings.
Sharing a kit. If you choose to share a kit with another Loadout user, the items in that kit become visible to the person you shared with, through Apple's CloudKit sharing — the same way Apple's own apps (Photos, Notes) share. Nothing is shared unless you explicitly choose to share it.
What we never do
- We never sell your data to anyone.
- We never use your photos or production data to train AI models without asking you first.
- We don't run ad tracking or third-party analytics SDKs that profile you.
- We never lock you out of data you already created if you stop subscribing — your existing gear list, kits, and photos stay on your device and in your own iCloud account either way.
Subscriptions and payment
Loadout offers a free trial, after which continued use requires a paid subscription (monthly or yearly, priced in the App Store). Payment is handled entirely by Apple through your App Store account — DEADWORK never sees or stores your payment details. See our Terms of Use for the full subscription terms.
